Congressman Guthrie visited Ken-tron Mfg., Inc. yesterday as promised. It occurred on the first national “Manufacturing Day,” as declared by the National Association of Manufacturers.
“Having worked at my family’s manufacturing business, I understand the challenges our small business owners are facing today,” said Congressman Guthrie. “I really appreciate Ken-tron allowing me to tour their facility today and learn more about their concerns including the threat of tax hikes, changes to health care and the need for affordable energy.”
Ken-tron Mfg., Inc. produces custom metal stampings and wire forms in Owensboro. The company, which began in 1960 as Kentucky Electronics, initially manufactured precision grid wire for receiving tubes.
“I have always contended that to be a great country you need to have a great agricultural base and a great manufacturing base. I am very pleased that we have set aside a day to honor manufacturing,” said Robert Hudson, Ken-tron’s owner.
“Manufacturing is an industry that has led much of the economic recovery in the U.S. However, it has struggled in recent months. On Manufacturing Day, I hope the Administration and my colleagues in Washington will come together to support pro-growth policies that provide certainty and encourage investment,” added Congressman Guthrie.
